Mig-29

Taking a photo of the tail end of a Mig-29 has several meanings at this moment.

The FHC built a new wing to house more of it's static and vehicle displays and this was the last photo of the tour that we took. Decades earlier I was among the first civilians in North America to see a Mig-29 outside of the (then) Soviet Union. There was a substantial Soviet contingent at the Abbotsford International Airshow in 1986 and some friends and I were sure to be there on opening day, rain or shine. That was also the day I cranked a dozen or more rolls through a freshly acquired Nikon F3.

On our last vacation, my camera was a constant companion. However, it had become a weighty, cumbersome companion on walks through the Garden District and the French Quarter of New Orleans. While enjoying a plate of spicy cajun crawfish plus a sazerac on a balcony in the Quarter, I decided a down-sizing was needed. There seems to be be a correlation between Mig-29s and changing camera gear. This photo is the last light to reach the sensor of my Nikon D7000, or, any of my Nikon gear for that matter. Next weekend, a trade-in is planned.
