This is a special post for me. My father had a Yashica 635 TLR and as far as I can tell, the last time he used it was in 1963, well before I was born. I've had this camera for several years now, but never ran a roll of film through it. The other week, I did a quick CLA and ran a roll of Kodak Portra 160 NC through it for the first time in over half a century. Here is the first photo:
This first photo has this wonderful 3D effect! There wasn't a lot of light at this time of day and I was always shooting at f/5.6 or faster. My iPhone has a light meter app, but I only needed it a few times.
I did crop the soji photo for a better perspective, since this was one case where 6x6 was actually the wrong one.
The ncxt 3 are from the same part of the gardens:
The hellebores had a perfect spot of sunshine on them, so they were the obvious next targets. Were you able to spot the Hobbit Hole in the shadows? It's there! The viewing platform was more of an exposure test than anything else.
For the next three, the sun was starting to set, so I had a bit of the golden hour.
There really wasn't enough light for fast apertures, so most shots lack DoF since I had no tripod.
The next shot, an intentional double exposure, could have been framed and leveled better, but it's been a few years since I last tried one and never with medium format.
This next shot is a great example of how sharp this old Yashinon lens is (Tessar formula).
This tree trunk was a pleasant surprise, too. I certainly was not expecting that gorgeous, circular out-of-focus effect in the background! That was really nice to see.
Here are 2 more, just before my favorite shot of the whole roll.
Finally, this is my favorite shot of the whole set, the hexagonal stone bench sculpture with the mysterious hole drilled through it:
The next roll through this camera will be a roll of Ilford Delta 100.
